CONTEXT AND TYPOLOGY
The following six pictures are the urban texture maps of several famous historical cities in China. We can clearly see that they all have a common problem: the large-scale old city texture is blocked by huge commercial mass. Therefore, some of the old towns in the junction zone have gradually declined, which are widespread problems throughout China.

Possibilities of Form
The space form of the cork is derived from the negative space of the most typical sloping roof building. I try to summarize the various combinations of the cork and the old building, and make some preliminary space divisions according to the possible functions.

ADAPTABILITY AND UNIVERSALITY
When the picture is unfolded along the city interface which like a thick wall, the mass of bridges spread from the urban interface to the texture of the old city. The cork activated the dilapidated old courtyard, and the bridge aroused the connection between the metropolis and the old city, so that the traditional houses that were originally blocked by huge masses were re-emerged and reborn.
